The recline is button-operated. An integrated battery runs the motor and holds a charge for up to three months. Press once to begin reclining, release at any angle, press again to return. No handle, no push-back. For anyone who wants to stop at an intermediate position, or who finds a push-back mechanism less comfortable, the power mechanism is the call. It costs roughly $860 more than the Welted Manual. The two chairs share the same frame, the same upholstery catalog, and the same dimensions; the only difference is the recline mechanism.
The Welted headrest tilts for adjustment but does not telescope. That is a 2-way system, compared to the 4-way (tilt plus telescoping extension) on the Sloped, Rolled, and Track recliners.
